COVID-19 Update

As of September 1, 2021 All clinical team members are fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Our Practice Safety Precautions

In our Downtown Vancouver practice, we adhere to standardized infection control measures, such as performing thorough hand washing and the use of medical grade hand sanitizer in order to help prevent the transmission of all respiratory infections, including COVID-19,. We follow Canadian Dental Association-approved sterilization and disinfection protocols by applying a Health Canada-registered, hospital-grade disinfectant, that is effective against coronaviruses.

For sterilization we use a high pressure and temperature sterilizer for all instruments, and equipment. In addition to ensuring the highest standards of infection control we also use new face masks and gloves for every patient so that we can safely and effectively accelerate Invisalign treatment.

While our office already adheres to these standard precautions, we are implementing some new procedures, including those that have been recommended by the BC College of Dental Surgeons to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

  • Installing new ultraviolet (UVC) disinfection light fixtures to run daily to kill pathogens in the air and on surfaces. (Watch the video below to learn more!)
  • Screening patients for signs or symptoms of infection before appointments are booked and confirmed.
  • Implementing a a disinfection station where patients will wash hands, brush teeth and rinse with disinfecting mouth wash.
  • Making sure our masks, gloves, and eye protection are appropriate for the procedures performed.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting public areas frequently, including door handles, chairs, and bathrooms.

When you visit our Vancouver practice, we ask that you arrive on time for your appointment, rather than too early. This will minimize the amount of time you spend in our waiting room or reception area. We also ask that you come alone to reduce the number of people in the office.

It is also worth noting that by remote at-home monitoring of your accelerated Invisalign progress with Dental Monitoring, less chair time and fewer office visits can help reduce exposure and risk enabling you to better practice physical distancing and self-isolation. Invisalign in half the time is a perfect fit for the post COVID-19 changes our world is experiencing.

Of course, please stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call us in advance of your appointment.

For more information about how ultraviolet light works to kill pathogens including COVID-19, watch this video explaining how it’s used to clean airplanes and hospital rooms.

According to David Brenner, PhD a scientist and researcher at Columbia University, “continuous airborne disinfection with far-UVC light at the current regulatory limit could greatly reduce the level of airborne virus in indoor environments occupied by people.”
